SAMSUNG C&T uses digital twins to optimize building operations. We have developed a digital twin with BIM and AI in an office building with a total floor area of 100,000 square meters, and we are utilizing it to operate the building. The basic functions are the Energy/Asset/Space Management, and Virtual Tours. In particular, the energy management function monitors building energy usage in real time. And we have developed 10 solutions for energy management that can save energy while maintaining the comfort of occupants in the building. These solutions are derived through AI-based machine learning models and optimization algorithms to provide real-time notifications to building operators for sustainable and optimized building energy management. Therefore, SAMSUNG C&T aims to provide efficient building operation and management services by simultaneously implementing digital spaces, going beyond the role of a construction company that constructs physical spaces.

Join Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) to discover its journey of adopting and deploying OpenUSD to build an interoperable Spatial Technology Stack (STS) with tools that include Maya software, 3ds Max software, Epic Unreal, and McNeel Rhino. The STS lets ZHA build immersive digital twins that enable deeper integrations between design and construction, enhance spatial experiences, and increase efficiencies in design and review cycles. The Volterra-Detroit Foundation (VDF) set out on a mission to digitize the history of Volterra, which dates back beyond the Roman era into the ancient histories of the Etruscan era. VDF won an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games to use the Unreal Engine back in 2020. Now, with Autodesk and Epic partnering even closer, there are so many wonderful workflows that we've used to activate all the survey data into Autodesk and Epic products. This class will focus on taking data from products like ReCap Pro, ReCap Photo, InfraWorks, Revit, and 3ds Max software into the world of Epic with products like RealityCapture, RealityScan, Twinmotion, Quixel, and the Unreal Engine. This will be an in-depth technical course that shows the picks and clicks involved in getting through some of the toughest challenges the foundation faced while digitally preserving the wonderful history of Volterra.

New Terminal One (NTO) is a passenger terminal set to be built at JFK International Airport in New York as part of wider plans to transform JFK into a world-class airport. Upon completion, NTO will be the airport's largest terminal. This session will demonstrate how Robert Bird Group (RBG) engages with project stakeholders, linking schedule data to model elements in an interactive and accessible environment that can be streamed in a web browser using the RBG-developed platform Reveal. Maximizing Navisworks, Revit, 3ds Max, and schedule data, we map the structure program to model elements, generating a connected link for ease of updates. The interactive environment allows any stakeholder to navigate, interrogate, control, and interact with a data-rich real-time model from any angle and at any stage of the construction. This allows users to highlight and adjust built assets that are either completed or under construction in a digitally simulated real-world environment.

This class is aimed at architects and visualization professionals interested in learning more about the pipeline, best practices, and tips and tricks for getting a building information modeling (BIM) data set prepped for use in a real-time game engine. The majority of this class will revolve around work done in 3ds Max software, where we'll import a Revit architectural data set, clean and organize the model, set up initial shaders and lighting, and finally export the model for use in a real-time environment. We'll then bring the prepared data set into Unreal Engine, showing the import process. We'll explore how geometry, materiality, and lighting information is translated. And we'll show the process for making future updates to the original data set in 3ds Max, and demonstrate how to seamlessly translate these changes back to Unreal Engine.

Habitat 67 is a model community and housing complex in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, designed by Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie. It is one of the most recognizable projects in modular urbanization and construction. Sadly, what was built is only a fraction of Safdie's original design. The existing structure was intended to be the first phase of a much larger complex, but budget restrictions meant his original vision never came to life. Until today. In this class, you'll learn how Unreal Engine was used to create an immersive and interactive experience of the original Habitat 67. You'll explore the value of using Unreal Engine to bring architectural designs to life, and discover how 3ds Max software was used in the creation of this project, in addition to RealityCapture.
